Musician, Musikvermitlerin
Artistic background
Born in 1994 in Cape Town, South Africa, she carries her heritage deeply into her artistic work. Her communication, interpretative style, and creative approach are strongly shaped by her South African identity, which continues to influence how she performs, collaborates, and engages with audiences.
About
Erin Louise Torres completed her musical studies in South Africa and at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory in Feldkirch, and is currently pursuing her second master’s degree: MA Specialized in Performance and Music in Context (Music Mediation) at the Bern University of the Arts.
Since 2020, Erin has served as Organizational Manager of the Feldkirch Master Course, formerly known as the Feldkircher Streichertage. As a violist, she is active in a range of international projects, including the MIAGI Orchestra, which tours regularly and performs in renowned venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. She also performs frequently in Switzerland, for example with Tabula Musica, an inclusive and versatile orchestra that collaborates closely with people with disabilities. In January 2025, Erin joined the Diversity and Inclusion Core Group of the Bern University of the Arts and the University of Bern in a part-time role. She is the founder and curator of Echo Theory, which received the International Prize for New Concert Formats 2025 (Austria).
Erin’s artistic work is deeply rooted in contemporary social questions and lived experiences. She is committed to weaving people’s stories into musical expression across diverse formats, driven by the belief that the interconnection of community and music creates a more powerful and meaningful art form—one in which audiences become an active part of the artistic process. In April 2026, Echo Theory will present one of Erin’s concepts at the Alte Oper Frankfurt as part of Podium Zukunft, following an invitation as emerging artists of their generation.
